JILL SCOTT's new album ''The Light Of The Sun' will be released in the 28th June 2011. Jill’s funky new video for “Shame,” is from the forthcoming album on Warner Bros Records. The video was shot in the Philadelphia neighborhood where she grew up. The location of the shoot is the Cecil B. Moore Recreation Center, where Jill spent her summers as a kid. When she heard the recreation centre was closing, Jill and her Blues Babe foundation paid for repairs on the centre to keep it open.

The video features some old friends making cameos, such as Eve, who is featured on the track, and Black Thought from The Roots.



A second album is also due to drop by Ms. Scott this spring/early summer, a collection of rare and previously unreleased material called 'Just Before Dawn: From The Vault, Vol. 1 on the label she recently parted ways with, Hidden Beach Recordings.

Delving deep into dub theory and sound science, the man otherwise known as Hopeton Brown speaks on how a fervent interest in electronics and engineering and a knack for building amplifiers led to major recognition in Jamaica, establishing himself as a protege of King Tubby along the way. Breaking down everything from the ins and outs of his recording techniques to his bitter dispute with the Greensleeves label - with sage advice for up-and-coming musicians to heed - Scientist opens up on his time working at Studio One, changing the sound of Channel One, and his part in the rise of Tuff Gong.

Bringing things up to date, he touches on his father fiigure role within the dubstep fraternity, marked with his record Scientist Launches Dubstep Into Outer Space. A cross-cultural meeting of minds and a unique insight into the art of noise, Scientist Meets Son of Scientist is essential listening for true dub heads and novices alike.

King-'The Story' EP

Over the past couple of weeks a bit of a storm has been brewing on across the web about the debut EP release from an american all girl collective known as KING.

KING are described as ”a soulful, organic trio of young women here to bring a fresh creativity to music and change the world through their art”. They consist of twin sisters Paris and Amber Strother and Anita Bias who hails from Los Angeles. They write all their own songs and Paris fully produces the tracks herself. These three talented ladies saw their musical stock rise considerably over the past month after Questlove and Phonte began tweeting about their love for KING. What ensued was a series of articles about the trio and their fantastic tunes. Their debut EP, The Story, is an amalgam of sounds that feature the best parts of R&B, soul, and electronic music. And it all makes for a vibe highly reminiscent of what we have heard from Blouse'n' Skirt favorite the Foreign Exchange.....I have listened to it myself and I gotta say it's pretty dope

Dub Echoes

At first, one might think that reggae and dance music don’t have much to do with each other. But that’s a false perception. The documentary “Dub Echoes” aims to show how this Jamaican invention called dub ended up influencing much of the music we hear today, from electronic music to hip-hop, transforming the studio in a musical instrument and giving way to all of sonic experiments.

“Dub Echoes” was produced by a Brazilian crew, in Kingston (Jamaica), London (UK), NY, Washington, LA (US), Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo (Brazil). Key names, from both reggae and the electronic music world, talk about the birth of this genre, how it helped to change the way we perceive music and how it’s presence can still be felt today.
